How much nutritional knowledge do you want to apply in your practice?
Some dabble in nutrition, some think of its application as back end products, and some doctors actually practice clinical nutrition. Regardless of where you are in this process, my first and foremost question to you is “What is your teachability index”? Your teachability index is how open you are to learning; not just in the field of nutrition, but in life! Do you find yourself saying, “I know that, yep got it, what else?” If you are like this, I just want to point out to you that you have just lowered your teachability index!
The scale is actually based upon a rating of 1-10. One’s willingness to learn, to remain open, to master fundamentals and ask questions such as, “what nuances can I learn about these fundamentals” is what will enable you to attain great mastery in your life and in this context…mastery in nutritional integration. The famous author Leo Buscaglia stated, “If you know, and you don’t do, then you don’t know”! So what do you tell yourself you know, and what do you do?Who do you listen to? Are you seeking a weekend course in nutrition that you think will teach you something easy, something quick, that you don’t have to put much time into, yet you expect spectacular results?
Since when can you side step fundamentals and realize a level of mastery? Come on, you know better than this, and you know that time well spent (after doing something over and over and over again) is the only way we get anywhere and truly become leaders in our field. When you ask yourself if this is what is important to you, and you want to attain a level of nutritional mastery, then I will ask you, what are you willing to give up to have it? Is it taking a half hour a day to read or practice the artful nature of muscle testing, or studying the notes so the information goes from a level of conscious awareness to unconscious awareness, meaning it has gone from conscious thought to truly knowing. Do you even think how to tie your shoe laces, or is it an unconscious process at this point, but you execute it perfectly? Get my point?
We are all where we are in life based largely upon how we think. What we have, what we do, the decisions we make and ultimately the wealth we have are all tied into this basic fact. Our attitude however, is often more important than the facts, because what is referred to as facts are many times nothing more than opinions.
If you are considering studying Integrative Assessment Technique in one of the upcoming events in California in July or in New York in August, ask yourself some of the questions I have posed to you.
1. What is your willingness to learn? (Desire to be, do or have more?)
2. What is your willingness to change? (What are you willing to give up having it?)
3. What is your teach ability index? (1-10, the higher it is the more rapidly you will have what you desire in life.)
I will start with all the fundamentals, and depending upon the above factors, show you a remarkable skill set you can own in your life and apply in your practice to stand out and be heard and seen as a doctor capable of helping others in a rewarding and genuine way. I welcome your enrollment and desires.

Supplement FAQ: Intenzyme Forte™
Why you may need Intenzyme Forte™:
Health researchers are continually discovering that inflammation and its effects are at the root of many illnesses and disease processes. In fact, most chronic health challenges involve some degree of inflammation. But acknowledging inflammation and addressing it are two very different entities. Since inflammation can be caused from such a wide variety of factors – everything from physical wear and tear, diet, environmental factors, genetics, and even local or systemic allergies, it can be difficult to find an easy way to address it. Intenzyme Forte is a potent source of both plant and animal based enzymes that are an effective combination to break down the aberrant proteins associated with inflammation, hence the term “proteolytic enzymes”. Proteolytic enzymes provide all-natural and highly effective support for systemic or localized inflammation and discomfort such as muscle soreness. The key, however, is that in order to benefit from enzymes proteolytic actions; it must be taken on an empty stomach. If taken with food, the enzyme will work as a digestive aid instead.
Why your healthcare practitioner recommends Intenzyme Forte™ from Biotics Research:
Intenzyme Forte™ is a broad spectrum nutritional supplement capable of exerting influence over a variety of physiological and biochemical mechanisms, including: inflammatory processes, numerous pathways of protein metabolism, hormone processing, digestive processes, food sensitivities, immune system support, and healthy circulatory system support. Intenzyme Forte™ also has the ability to break down mucous secretions as well. For over 30 years, thousands of healthcare practitioners have relied on the safe, effective, and reliable results that Intenzyme Forte™ has to offer. As always, you can count on Biotics Research to offer superior nutritional products that supply “The Best of Science and Nature”.

Supplement FAQ: Amino Sport™ & Amino Acid Quick-Sorb™
Why you may need Amino Sport™ & Amino Acid Quick-Sorb™:
At their most basic level, amino acids are the building blocks of proteins, and they are essential for every chemical reaction and process that occurs in the body. Of the 21 recognized amino acids, 10 are essential, which indicates that they must be acquired exogenously from the diet as the body is wholly unable to replicate them. A deficiency in even one of these essential amino acids will result is serious health ramifications. A simple way to differentiate the essential amino acids from the non-essential amino acids is the long-used mnemonic PVT TIM HALL (Private Tim Hall) which stands for Phenylalanine, Valine, Threonine, Tryptophan, Isoleucine, Methionine, Histidine, Argenine, Lysine, and Leucine. While amino acids are necessary for life itself, balanced ratios are also crucial for many metabolic processes, particularly as metabolic intermediates to neurotransmitters and other molecules like porphyrins, polyamines, nucleotides, nitric oxide, and heme. The body also utilizes amino acids directly via oxidation to supply energy requirements (glucose regulation/gluconeogenesis).
Why your healthcare practitioner recommends Amino Sport™ & Amino Acid Quick-Sorb™ from Biotics Research:
Healthcare providers often prescribe single, isolated amino acids for the support of specific health challenges. Very often though, a patient will require a comprehensive amino acid blend such as is provided in Amino Sport™. Amino Sport™ is Biotics Research’s highest potency amino acid supplement and it is a frequent adjunct for individuals with inadequate protein intake, impaired immune responses, dieters, and individuals working on increasing their lean body mass. When high doses of a single amino acid are indicated, healthcare practitioners often prescribe the use of a broad spectrum amino blend concurrently as to avoid the potential for amino acid imbalances. Amino Acid Quick-Sorb™ is a unique liquid amino formula supplying sublingual free-form amino acids. Many people with problematic blood glucose fluctuations have found it to efficiently support normal blood sugar levels. Children, seniors, vegetarians, and people consuming diets high in processed foods or simple carbohydrates are especially prone to amino acid imbalances and deficiencies.

One’s Health Status, Blood Chemistries and Integrative Assessment Technique
If I told you IAT was special, really special and at first glance it had something to do with muscle testing or bioenergetics, and I began discussing blood chemistries, functional medicine testing, and its importance to one’s health status… you might do a double take.
I must admit, it’s hard to exemplify the depth and breadth in a blog of what IAT is really capable of teaching you, and how this translates into real time verifiable diagnostic accuracy, with nutritional interventions that equate to biochemical individuality, but it does!
So how can we cross-reference a muscle testing technique with blood chemistries and why is this so important?
For more years than I care to admit, I practiced one or more of the various AK type models, and rarely ran chemistries. I was trained as a Chiropractor, took many seminars in the field of nutrition, but stayed in my comfort zone. Truth is, most Chiropractors don’t stray too far from there neuro-musculo-skeletal training. This is not a judgment against my profession, it’s just a fact. What is interesting is how much we are missing, and how much more we can do, to help patients attain enhanced levels of health, and really move them into a model of wellness!
So, I took the leap and started to run blood chemistries. No, I didn’t know how to read all of what I was finding, but I called some M.D friends when necessary, and did a lot of goggle searches. Before I knew it, I was routinely checking vitamin D levels, running advanced lipid profiles (VAP panel), homocysteine levels, Cardio CRP’s, HbA1c and fasting insulin levels, and the list goes on. It’s amazing what you can find; and even more interesting to find out what an unfortunate mess people’s biochemistries are in, and how this relates to their current and future health.
Better yet, is how amazing the right nutritional intervention and dietary guidance can change these parameters of health! The docs themselves are not walking the walk, and if you think you can look away from these biomarkers as you age, and not address them, you are in for one of the rudest awakenings of your life. This is not about proselytizing, it’s about the truth. We need it all. We require a sound structure with neurological integrity, a healthy biochemistry that runs on healthy food and high quality supplements, along with a balanced mental emotional state capable of flexibility.
I stated earlier that IAT was special. Can you conceive of, or have you ever been taught to perform a muscle testing application? One that will depict and fine-tune exactly which blood chemistries you should run to actually see that you are not only correct in your assessment, but to see how helpful this data is toward applying the correct nutritional application.
The IAT model affords you the ability to look at and practice what I hope you can see: a paradigm that accommodates people’s needs. Give them what they want, and they will give you what you want. Does this not make sense? Where do you fit in this picture? Are you ready to step up to the plate?

Supplement FAQ: Stamina Caps™
Why you may need Stamina Caps™:
Stamina is an excellent measure of fitness. In fact, many people assume that they are physically fit, and they may be able to adequately perform specific actions of strength, but a true measure of their fitness level lies in whether they have the physical endurance, the stamina – per say, to perform physical activity for prolonged periods of time without quickly faltering or tiring. Training can quickly correct strength inadequacies, but it takes a special combination of conditioning and nutritional support to increase the body’s endurance levels. Specific nutrients in combination may play a role in increasing endurance and promoting energy production, while also enhancing metabolism. The combination of specific nutrients supplied in Stamina Caps™ includes Thiamin, Pantothenic Acid, L-Carnitine, Octacosanol, Coenzyme Q10 and OOrganik-15™, which may serve to aid in energy production and to increase stamina.
Why your healthcare practitioner recommends Stamina Caps™ from Biotics Research:
Stamina Caps™ are yet another unique product exclusive to Biotics Research. It has been specially formulated to support physical stamina and mitochondrial energy conversion. Stamina Caps™ contain a specific blend of Thiamin, a metabolic cofactor. Decreased levels of thiamin have been associated with impaired immunity, muscle or nerve loss, and impaired metabolism of carbohydrates and branched-chain amino acids. Pantothenic Acid is required for mitochondrial energy production and is an essential part of the enzyme Coenzyme CoA, which is involved in the synthesis of essential fats, cholesterol, steroid hormones, and neurotransmitters. A deficiency of pantothenic acid is associated with fatigue, listlessness, insomnia, and altered mood. Coenzyme Q10 is mandatory for mitochondrial energy production. It is known to be cardioprotective, cytoprotective, and neuroprotective. CoQ10 is readily depleted during periods of stress or injury, and low levels of CoQ10 are almost always found in those with poor stamina. L-Carnitine is an amino acid that plays an essential role in carbohydrate metabolism. It is required for the transportation of fatty acids into the mitochondria for oxidation. L-Carnitine deficiency is associated with mitochondrial energy deficit, fatigue, weakness, muscle spasm, and delayed-onset muscle soreness (DOMS). OOrganik-15™ is included as it supplies methyl donors and acceptors which are necessary for the synthesis of creatine in the muscle – which has been shown to help maintain muscular ATP concentrations. Octacosanol, also provided as octacosanol from rice, has been demonstrated to improve reaction time to visual stimuli, and may improve stamina by improving oxygen utilization during anaerobic glycolysis, and by aiding in the removal of lactic acid. Stamina Caps™ is an excellent adjunct for patients who could benefit from improved endurance or improved cardiovascular fitness. As always, Biotics Research Corporation brings you “The Best of Science and Nature”.

Why Athletic Performance and Nutritional Supplementation Go Hand In Hand
We all get the basics when it comes to athletic events and nutrition, don’t we? You should take protein when you are working out, electrolytes when you run, and stay hydrated! That is about as simple as it comes, and can also be a limiting factor in your patient’s ability to excel, or even take their sport or event to the next level. Many times, those who are really into fitness and competition will want to take a myriad of supplements, herb, potions, and whatever else, to compete and push their limits. They have all to often gone to the local health food store, or other nutrition store, and stared at the thousands of possible things they can put into their body hoping to make something happen, all the while being directed by someone, who most of the time, has little or no formal education on the items on the shelf.
We, as doctors, need to get away from being a nutrition generalist, to being a nutrition specialist when it comes to athletes. These patients will need specific guidance for supplementation regarding their sport or event, intensity, age, past or current injuries, and other factors. Because how and when a 54 year old female marathon runner’s nutritional breakdown occurs is different than that of a college football running back. Though both need to be taking a multi, omega-3, B-Vitamins, etc, how and when these and other supplements are taken can be just as crucial as what they are taking in the first place.
Through future blog entries, I will touch on these topics and supplements individually, to help construct a better understanding for what sport would need more branched-chain amino acids found in high amounts in Amino Sport™, or why BioProtect™ is crucial for the marathoner or tri-athlete. And from this understanding, you will be able to build protocols for your patients which will enable them to overcome training plateaus, increase speed, strength, power, endurance, and intensity in their athletic endeavors.

Supplement FAQ: Gammanol Forte
Why you may need Gammanol Forte™:
Gamma oryzanol is a naturally occurring mixture of plant sterols and free transferulic acid esters derived from rice bran. Research indicates that gamma oryzanol has a plethora of functional effects. In addition to its best known actions of promoting increases in lean muscle mass and enhancing endorphin release, the sterol component of gamma oryzanol has noted effects on modified sterols such as testosterone, estrogen, progesterone, DHEA, etc. It has been known to support normal, healthy cholesterol levels, support hormonal fluctuations associated with menopause, increase human growth hormone activity (as measured using insulin growth factor 1 [IGF-1]), and act as a potent antioxidant. It has also been shown to have a normalizing effect on gastric functioning, particularly on gastric and duodenal mucosa.
Why your healthcare practitioner recommends Gammanol Forte™ from Biotics Research:
Not all gamma oryzanol is created equally. While gamma oryzanol may be sourced from corn or barley, Biotics Research chooses to use gamma oryzanol from rice bran, as it results in a superior product free from common allergens. Biotics Research Corporation processes gamma oryzanol utilizing a highly specialized fractionation process (FRAC®) that vastly improves the bioavailability of the ferulic acid component. In addition to this marked improvement in bioavailability is the synergistic effect with Gammanol Forte™’s combination of gamma oryzanol and FRAC®, with its proprietary tableting base. Laboratory findings reveal a combined antioxidant effect that is far superior to the antioxidant status of either constituent on its own. Collectively, Gammanol Forte™ may just be one of the most versatile supplements you’ve never heard about. As always, Biotics Research Corporation brings you “The Best of Science and Nature”.
